What makes the SAP unique
The unique value that the SAP brings to the field of analytical psychology lies in both the quality and depth of our work, which is rooted in a long history of clinical and theoretical excellence. This has provided the foundation for a synthesis of psychoanalysis and developmental Jungian analysis, and an exceptionally vibrant and rigorous approach to education and training.
SAP trainings operate within training protocols and standards set by our accrediting and registering body, the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). Our training courses are intentionally intensive and are held within a multilayered containment structure. Our training model reflects the depth and complexity of clinical formation.
We are UK-based but global in our outlook. As a Society with people and patients at its heart, we recognise that our ultimate purpose is to provide a tangible benefit to all those who may benefit from analytical psychological treatment. This is why we wish to extend our offer to as wide a range of professionals as possible, and make every effort to facilitate the provision of care, including affordable care, based on need.
Our membership is varied, which is a defining feature of the SAP and also one of our greatest strengths. We must support and nurture our members throughout their training and professional careers, making it easier for more people to find us, train with us, and if they wish, progress to further learning and qualifications. In doing so, we will continue to attract and provide a platform to some of the best minds in the field, while creating opportunities for more people to join us at every level. We will also make it easier for members of the public to learn about and understand how our approach to analytical psychology can help them in their own lives, and to support the SAP.
Our overarching priorities to August 2029 will be the following
- Continue to build on our tradition of excellence
- Educate more professionals in our unique approach
- Provide great value to our members
- Highlight the practical benefit of analytical psychology to the public
- Facilitate access to analysis and psychotherapy based on need
- Be an effective, accessible, sustainable and resilient organisation
