A Zoom event and virtual film discussion
“The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)”
(Director Noah Baumbach, 2017)
Christopher Hauke (SAP, JPA and CAP)
This joint SAP and CAP film discussion series, is a film about a family but very different to other attempts at the genre; it is about being an adult, having children, learning to forgive one’s father and face his mortality, and much more besides. The “stories” style of presentation avoids comfortable familiarity and leaves the viewer with a messy, shattered vision.
We ask you to watch “The Meyerowitz Stories” on DVD or Netflix before we meet – either on that morning so it is fresh in your mind or earlier in the week before the 27th
All registrants will be sent a Zoom invitation before the event day. We start. At 2pm (GMT) we will start the Zoom seminar with an introduction from Christopher Hauke (Chair of C.A.P.) Then we will open the floor to all attendees who may wish to contribute. There will be a Zoom modifier who will be able to see your virtual “raised hands” and invite you to speak. There will also be the ongoing chat line which the chairs may also comment upon.
Christopher is the author of Visible Mind. Movies, Modernity and the Unconscious (2013, Routledge) and editor of Jung and Film. Post-Jungian Takes on the Moving Image (2001 Routledge); Jung and Film ll: The Return (2011, Routledge). Ruth is the author of C. G. Jung (The Basics) (2018)
