This Saturday!!! -The I Ching: Points of Balance and Cycles of Change - Peggy Jones

Centred on the study of sixty-four 6-line figures (hexagrams) representing the yin and yang of the ten thousand things under Heaven, the subject matter of the I Ching is – put simply – Life. When an individual consults the I Ching by throwing the coins or dividing the yarrow stalks, a space is both discovered and created (what D.W. Winnicott called a ‘transitional area’) in which all the great and small details of the individual’s life can co-exist without comparison or judgement and without cancelling each other out. In this talk/workshop, I will introduce the book and explore one or two hexagrams as a way of illustrating how the I Ching has been and can be consulted. Participants will also construct their own hexagrams. The text I will be using will be my own version, The I Ching: Points of Balance and Cycles of Change, published by Karnac Books. While it would be helpful, it will not be necessary for participants to have a copy.

Peggy Jones first trained at WPF and subsequently with The SAP. Having worked with the Richard Wilhelm I Ching for over twenty years, she started working on her own version of the Book of Changes following her retirement from analytic practice. This book was published in April 2008 and reflects not only her analytic experience, but also her abiding interest in Eastern religion and spiritual development.
