What possible relevance could the old stories of gods and heroes have for the struggles of contemporary life? What did Jung mean when he said “The Gods have become diseases?”
This talk aims to set the imagination to work as it explores these and other questions in the light of Jungian and post-Jungian insights. We will look at how myths can still illuminate the depths of human psychology. And we will see how spending time with the old stories can offer a particular education in how to live with the radical unknown of the unconscious - an education of value not just in psychotherapeutic consulting rooms, but for anyone going about their daily life.
